SCHOOLS OUT FOR NAYLOR CONCRETE UNIVERSITY GRADUATES

We’re delighted to announce that two of the Naylor Concrete team have graduated from University this week: Chris Clarke, Quality Engineer, has completed his third degree - the level 5 (foundation degree equivalent) CAAHQ University Diploma in Concrete Studies at University of Derby, while David Jenkins, who’s employed as a Concrete Technologist, has successfully completed a BSc (Hons) in Engineering Management at the University of Lincoln.

Both Chris and David are already applying their new knowledge and skills to their roles at Naylor Concrete.

Chris will be using his new found knowledge to leverage data-driven decision-making, improve the quality and consistency of Naylor’s concrete products and apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and cut costs.

While David, who is playing a key role in the development of new, lower carbon concrete mixes, says the course has given him a deeper appreciation for how concrete is used by customers and will enable him to better solve production challenges that arise as part of the product development process. For his dissertation, David conducted trials with various mix designs, exploring the use of supplementary cementitious materials to reduce cement content while studying the resulting strength and cost benefits. These insights are now being used to support Naylor Concrete's future growth and help the business to remain competitive.
